Why I Hired my First Coach

I heard about this thing called "creative avoidance" - when you get creative at blocking your own progress or create problems just so you can solve them. It felt like I was on a hamster wheel, doing a bunch of work but not really getting anywhere. I didn't want to end up 5 to 10 years later with regret, unconsciously avoiding something so I hired a coach to help me see what I couldn't see. I continue to work with coaches because I'm always working through conditioned patterns that are unconsciously driving my behaviour.

Why I Became a Coach

I was living the script of life - go to school, get a job, buy a house, get married, have kids, retire at 65 - doing what I was supposed to do, comfortable but unhappy. I dreaded going to work and had no idea what I really wanted for myself.

After a powerful coaching experience I realized, "I think coaching is something I'd be really good at." After that I began offering coaching for free increasing the investment to work with me slowly along the way. I built my business on testimonials, referrals and invitation only. Eventually I was able to quit my 9 to 5 job. Turns out this thing called "coaching" nourishes my soul, and I believe, is part of what I'm built to do.

Now, I'm energized by working with brave leaders who value being stretched. They play outside their comfort zone because they know their biases and blindspots are where all of the growth happens. They cultivate self-awareness as the highest form of leadership development. Conscious leaders operate above the line, shifting from reactivity to responsibility, control to humility, and influence without force. Applied empathy is the catalyst for this journey - a holistic approach to becoming a conscious leader.

I don't have it all figured out.

I believe in creating authentic relationships on foundation of honesty and integrity.
